The Music Ministry is comprised of volunteer soloists and ensembles, led by our talented Music Coordinator, Joani Peterson, and Director of Choirs, Dr. Jason St. Claire. We are also fortunate to have the musical expertise of Janet Giffin, who is a retired keyboardist and choir director. Ensembles meet and enhance worship services beginning after Labor Day, and go through Mother's Day (roughly September to May). Joani Peterson - Music will open many doors! That’s what my organ teacher said. She was right!! I started taking piano lessons when I was nine years old. At sixteen, I played the pipe organ for 2 services in Galva Illinois, at First United Methodist Church, accompanied 2 choirs and played for numerous weddings and funerals. A busy job for a young high school girl with a boyfriend!! I’ve been a church organist in various churches throughout the last 50 years. Taught music in elementary schools for 20 years. I was “Educator of the Year” in 2010 and “Teacher of the Year” in 2014. I currently have private piano students and am a guest teacher in the Scottsdale Unified School District. My undergraduate degree is from ASU and my master’s degree is from Ottawa University. It is such a wonderful blessing serving our Lord at Trinity Lutheran Church as the Organist and Music Coordinator!

Jason St. Claire is honored to serve as the Director of Choirs and A/V person at Trinity Lutheran. Dr. St.Claire is a native of Phoenix, Arizona, and completed his undergraduate degree in Music Education from ASU in 2007, his Masters degree in Music Education in 2011, and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2018. He is excited to serve the community through his expertise as an educator and choral musician at Pinnacle High School and Mountain Trail Middle School. This is Jason's 17th year of teaching, and 18th year of directing choirs in churches.
